Here are some of my suggestions for a Christmas Jumper

I do not normally wear a Christmas jumper as it usually all about party wear and as that is not the case this year. I thought that I would. I did not want to spend too much on something that I would not get to wear to much, so I set myself a budget of £20.00. Here are some of my suggestions for a Christmas Jumper Here are some of my suggestions for a Christmas Jumper Here are some of my suggestions for a Christmas Jumper One site that I came upon is Shein.co.uk and this is not a company I have ordered from before. Everything on here is cheap and so I am not sure of the quality, but I loved this red one. Red is obviously a Christmas colour, but there are a lot of other colours in this too. What I liked about it was the length as it comes down over the bottom. This jumper is only £13.49 so not sure on the quality, but I guess it depends on how long you expect it to last and how often you are going to wear it.           Here are some of my suggestions for a Christmas Jumper Here are some of my suggestions for a Christmas Jumper If you prefer a sweatshirt to a jumper I found this one at a company called boutiquefeeluk . This is another company I have not ordered from.  I love this one, and if grey is…

How to experiment with different colour combinations

How to experiment with different colour combinations I think that we get stuck in a rut with how we dress as we tend to wear what we usually wear. We get set in the colour combinations that we choose because if we know that they work, we tend not to look for others. As times are hard now and we may not have as much disposal income to invest in new items. It is important to find new combinations with the clothes that we do have. Here are my tips on how to experiment with different colour combinations. How to experiment with different colour combinations It is always nice to put different colour combinations together rather than say black and white. (Well I do not consider black or white to be a colour really, they are just at opposite ends of the colour spectrum) With so many beautiful colours out there I think it is a shame not to embrace colour. Apart from the way you feel in a certain colour it is nice to try different colour combinations that you may not have tried before. Take a navy or black skirt, do not reach for the white blouse, think about which colours you know that suit you and choose one of those. Navy and black are both good staple colours to have in your wardrobe as so many colours would team up well which is why they are a good wardrobe staple. If you are unsure look at nature…

Real life winning moments through the power of colour

Real life winning moments through the power of colour I have a real passion for colour because of the way it can make you look and feel. Most people choose to wear the colours that they love without any consideration for how they make them feel, and in some cases are wearing colours that are totally wrong for them. All colours have a holistic benefit which some people do not understand. In this blog I am going to share two stories of ladies who changed their lives when they learnt about the benefits of colour. They are real life winning moments through the power of colour. Real life winning moments through the power of colour The first lady I am going to talk about came up to me at an event where I was giving a talk about colour. She said to me “I have had my colours done and it changed my life” An immensely powerful statement and it was totally true. She had been working in a large corporate company for many years. Sue felt that she kept getting overlooked for promotion and did not understand why. Although she had all the qualifications and experience for these roles she always got overlooked. Real life winning moments through the power of colour The power of colour When she had her colours done everything changed. She went from wearing a boring black to suit to wearing colour. Although she was in a Corporate company, she still must be in a smart…

How to wear your favourite summer pieces in the autumn

We have just returned from a lovely holiday in Spain, staying with some particularly good friends in their apartment. Spending every day on the beach enjoying wearing my favourite summer clothes. The weather we returned to is quite different from last week and now we have wind and rain and temperatures much lower. Not that it matters too much as we now must self-isolate for two weeks. Is it time to put away your summer clothes?  I think I will no longer need my beach clothes, but I still do intend to wear some of my dresses. Here is how to wear your favourite summer pieces in the autumn. How to wear your favourite summer pieces in the autumn Leather Biker Jacket I love my summer dresses, they are easy to wear, one item and they are comfortable. Dresses come in all shapes and sizes and you can find a style to suit your body shape. Here in this picture you can see a lovely summer dress is worn with your staple leather jacket over the top. Recently, I bought a navy leather jacket from Sosandar and will be wearing mine in a similar way. This retails at £249 and they have several styles and colours to choose from. She is wearing this dress with high sandals, but you could wear some boots when it gets colder and even add some opaque tights. Coatigan Leather jacket not your thing? You can choose any warmer jacket that compliments your dress. If…

Start wearing your unworn clothes or let them go

Start wearing your unworn clothes or let them go The one thing I have learnt during this lock down is that I have too many clothes in my wardrobe that I do not wear. I am a great hoarder and find it difficult to let go of things, and yet I also love to buy new things. I try to work on a one in, one out policy, but I still have things that I hold onto in case I have an occasion to wear them. Why do you have things in your wardrobe that you do not wear? Your wardrobe should be full of things you love and love to wear. Here are my tips on h w to start wearing your unworn clothes or let them go. Start wearing your unworn clothes or let them go A couple of weeks ago I wrote a Blog about how you can re-style clothes that you are no longer wearing. Here are some ideas on how you can change the use of a blouse or your jeans. I also have a page on my Pinterest with some ideas on how to re-use things that you don’t wear into something that you will. How do you let things go? It’s all very well saying you need to de-clutter, you need to streamline what clothes you have, but how do you do that if you still love the things that you have. Firstly, I think that you need to  look at what you…

Separates can give you more outfits with fewer clothes

Separates can give you more outfits with fewer clothes Separates are good wardrobe staples and are known today as “Co-ords” and are a great way to build a capsule wardrobe. They work well when you are going on holiday. Separates can give you more outfits with fewer clothes Separates can give you more outfits with fewer clothes Take this outfit here a midi skirt with an off the shoulder top and worn together make a dress. What I liked about the skirt was the movement with the splits at the side. It is also button through so you can be as daring as you like. The top is worn off the shoulder and with this pattern on the material it is ideal for packing as it does not crease. They look great worn together as a dress, but they can also be worn separately. The skirt I am going to wear with a red blouse, navy t/shirt and a cream top. The top on the other hand looks great with jeans, and my white cropped trousers. So, as you can see you can make many items Separates can give you more outfits with fewer clothes Separates or co-ords, are also a great way to layer your clothes, especially if you do not know what the weather is going to be. A look that I love to wear, is a t/shirt or vest top with a button through cardigan worn over the top. I have collected several of these cardigans over…

Embrace the off the shoulder & statement sleeves this summer

This season it is all about the sleeves and off the shoulder tops and dresses (the cold shoulder look). I know a lot of my clients are worried about showing the upper arm and with both these trends you are covered. I understand that the shoulders do not age so another reason to show them off. Here are my tips on how to embrace the off the shoulder & statement sleeves this summer. Embrace the off the shoulder and statement sleeves this summer   Embrace the off the shoulder and statement sleeves this summer I have been lusting after this dress for a while, its from Sosandar and they do some lovely dresses. If you have not ordered from them before you can usually get a 20% off voucher as a new customer. Shame I have ordered before!!! If you look around there are a lot of dresses like this available. I have a skirt with a matching top which is similar that I featured in a previous blog last year which was about how to make your  wardrobe work for you with separates. Separates are so nice to have in your wardrobe because you can make more outfits our of fewer clothes but I do love a dress as it is one item of clothing and you don’t have to stress about finding something to wear with it. With this dress I may put a belt to cinch in the waist. Embrace the off the shoulder & statement sleeves…

Nature inspires me to make great colour combinations

Nature inspires me to make great colour combinations My trainer always said to me that nature never gets if wrong and she is so right. I will show you what I mean by looking at things in nature and transferring the colours into what you wear. Nature inspires me to make great colour combinations. Nature inspires me to make great colour combinations We have all heard to saying, “Blue and green should never be seen unless there is a colour in between” This is so not true now days. Green with denim is a great combination because there are so many shades of green and blue to choose from. What is important is that you choose two warm colours or two cool colours which will tone with each other. I took this picture today in Dorothy Perkins in Debenhams. Here we have denim jeans and a patterned green print top.  It works well with the denim and you could bring out the red in the print by adding a red belt,  wear red shoes with a red handbag. Navy and a bright green look great together and make a great combination for a wedding outfit. Use jewellery, and accessories when putting your outfits together. Scarves are usually full of bright colours and make a great addition to any outfit. Coloured shoes and handbags also help to make a well put together outfit.     Yellow, Green & Cream as a colour combination Nature inspires me to make great colour combinations Nature…

What are your views to wearing face coverings in shops?

What are your views to wearing face coverings in shops? I have been wearing a face mask whenever I go into a shop from the beginning of lock down, but I am surprised at the number of people who do not. As from today it is now law that we do, and there is a fine of £100.00 for anyone not wearing one. Who is going to enforce this? Will it be the security/ shop owners, or shop staff? I cannot see that the police with have enough capacity to be patrolling the shops. What are your views to wearing face coverings in shops? What are your views to wearing face coverings in shops? The one I am wearing here matches a skirt I bought and is like an infinity scarf that you pull over your head. You can then lift it up over your face when you go into a shop. The material is very thin, and I am not sure how effective it is, other than the fact that I have my face covered. (and it does match one of my outfits)!! Up and till now I have been wearing a black mask that I bought on Amazon at the beginning. It is lined in white with a flap to put in a filter which we did, and it felt very secure. I washed it on my return from the shops and ironed with a hot iron. Now that we are going into shops more often, I guess…
