How to wear black if it is not one of your colours Ideally warm skin toned ladies and mature ladies should not wear black next to their face. WHY? because it can be draining, and it is a negative colour. BUT what about the little black dress I hear you ask? Yes you can be a rule breaker but read on to find out how to wear black if it is not one of your colours. How to wear black if it is not one of your colours. I was given this long black dress from a friend of mine to wear on a cruise I was going on. Because it is not one of my colours and black is not a colour, I generally feel comfortable in, I was not keen to wear it. As you can see from the photograph I have put on some makeup and a bright red lipstick. I have also chosen a bright red statement necklace, and the colour is shining up on my face and with this in mind I think I can get away with it. I teamed it with a small red leather handbag and red sandals. Also, I must say that I felt very nice in the dress and got lots of compliments on Facebook. Would I buy a black dress probably not, but I have to say that this outfit felt all right. How else can you style a little black dress? I think the simple answer is to…

When you are not looking to buy anything and find a gem.

When you are not looking to buy anything and find a gem. When you are not looking to buy anything that is usually when you do see something you like. This happened to me recently, Bob and I often walk into town with our dog Rosie and stop for coffee before walking home again. Last week I just popped into John Lewis to go to the toilet before walking back and guess what? At the top of the escalators was a sale rail of dresses. This one was screaming at me, so a quick call to Bob to let him know I was trying it on. When you are not looking to buy anything and find a gem. When you are not looking to buy anything and find a gem. These are my favourite colours, and it is so nice to be able to find a dress that is this length. I also have a problem with dresses with a waist as I am long waisted, so this works perfectly. I love button through dresses and particularly this “A” line style as it suits my column figure. Yes, it is a bit shorted than I usually wear but as a holiday dress I think I can get away with it. August/September is a difficult time to shop. This is not the best time to shop as the sales are on the way out, and the winter stock is coming in. I still want to stay in summer clothes for as…
I have a new add on to my business – want to know what?
I have a new add on to my business – want to know what? For some time now I have been looking for something to add to my current business. It had to be something that would complement it and could run alongside. I have joined Tropic as an Ambassador. Having been using the Tropic Skincare Range for several years and loving the product that I would like to share with my friends, family and clients. Why Tropic Skincare? The product has officially gone organic across most of the core skincare range. Not only that they have incorporated even more sustainable product packaging. (Say hello to recycled plastic). They have introduced a INNERBOTTLE technology a state of the art, green, refillable innovation that isn’t just new to Tropic, but to the entire market. As I have said I have been using some of their skincare products for some time now and would like to share my experience with others. As you can see from the above photo, I have lots of products to try and I am looking forward to exploring more of their range. How do I see this working in my business? It is not my intention to do parties as I have worked in several MLM companies before. This time I am not looking to build a big business. This time I just want to share my love of the product with like minded-ladies. Being a people person, I like working one to one and see this…
This is how August is looking for me.
This is how August is looking for me. August this year is going to be huge for me and my family as our daughter is getting married. This is a day that every mum looks forward too. As many of you know that lots of my family live in South Africa. My husband Bob his sister lives near Cape Town and my sister lives in Johannesburg and both are coming to the wedding. This is how August is looking for me. Bobs sister is already here and currently visiting her friends and family but returns to us this week. I have organised some fun things to do together. We are visiting the RHS Flower Show, the cable car over the river Thames and walking over the O2 to mention a few. My sister arrives mid-month just before the wedding and she is staying with her girls in London. Where did I get my outfit? Even stylists need help sometimes. I booked myself a personal shopper in John Lewis in Oxford Street London with a friend of mine. We both had a stylist finding dresses for us to try on and what a fabulous experience. They knew the stock available on the shop floor and helped us both choose lovely dresses for the day. Mine is a Phase Eight Maxi Dress in a lovely tangerine colour. It is pleated from the waist down and has a cross over front. I shall be wearing Navy sandals with a navy clutch bag. It…
My tips on how to work the sales
My tips on how to work the sales The summer sales seem to get earlier and earlier, and we do not seem to have had a summer yet. Today, as I write this it has rained all day and been dark and overcast. I have always loved shopping in the sales as I love to get a bargain, but it has changed over the years. Here is my take on it. How shopping in the sales has changed. When my daughter was little (she is 25yrs now) I used to go to the Next sale on Boxing morning early with a friend of mine. I used to buy for her lots of new clothes (sometimes for the next winter) as they were always about half price. We used to go around with a large bag and queue to pay. On arriving home, she would tell me which she wanted to keep and which she did not like. I then returned a few days later. There was always plenty of choice and lots of bargains to be had. It became a ritual very year. Shopping online in the sales. Anyone who knows me knows that I do not like shopping online. So often, I am disappointed when the clothes arrive. The Next sale was early this year and so not all their summer stock went into the sale. I am sure they will have another one in the future. II had early online assess and so I ordered a few things…
How get the most wear from your clothes?
How get the most wear from your clothes? How get the most wear from your clothes? I have just bought this skirt from Nobody child from John Lewis, I had been looking for a new sundress and couldn’t find one I liked. This skirt had many colours in it, I could wear it with a variety of strappy tops. What I liked about it was although it is a midi it does have two splits up the front which show my lovely legs when I move. The Skirt retails at £45 but is in the sale at £27 Bargain! Buying this skirt I will be able to make many outfits with several tops in the different colours in the print. How get the most wear from your clothes? How get the most wear from your clothes? Here I have chosen to wear it with a short-sleeved jumper in this lovely warm blue from Zara. This I have had in my wardrobe for several years but funnily enough I have not worn much. My colour pallet is Spring, and I know this print has a black background which I do not normally wear but as it is covered in these beautiful colours, I can get away with it. I wore it to a networking event this week and got lot of compliments. So, I think I will have to wear this shade of blue more often. Look at all the different colours in the print? So, the background is black, but…
Does your posture alter the look of your outfit?

Does your posture alter the look of your clothes? Yes, it most certainly does, you hear so much these days about getting your body into alignment, and it certainly makes a difference. Not only to how you look but how your clothes look too. I go to a regular yoga class and each week we work on a different part of the body. This week we were working on our shoulders and so many of us are round shouldered due to sitting at a desk on our computers or mobile phones. Does your posture alter the look of your outfit? Does your posture alter the look of your outfit? Standing up to your full height can make a huge difference. As I am tall, growing up I didn’t want to tower over my friends and so I was inclined to stoop to make myself not look so tall. I was bullied for being tall and thin so thought it was not good to be that way. I wanted to be small and petite but I think that was because I wanted to blend in and not stand out. Fast forward till now, I am proud of my height, I love my long legs even though it is a problem ordering trousers to ensure they are long enough. It is important to stand tall. I love giraffes as many of you know and look how graceful they are standing full height. This photograph was taken last November at my niece’s wedding…
