New Year – New You

New Year - New You
New Year – New You

Firstly, Happy New Year to you. Let’s make 2024 the year you step into the new version of you by injecting some style adding key pieces to your wardrobe. Sound exciting?  Yes, our style evolves over time, think about it, you are not wearing what you wore in your twenties when you are in your fifties or sixties. Your life changes though the years, you may have been in corporate and now own your own business, or perhaps you are retired and have a totally different lifestyle. Your style should reflect who you are as a person now.

So how do you know what your style is?

It all starts with style personality and the type of clothes that you like to wear. Are you a sporty type and like to be able to move in your clothes or are you more of a classic dresser. Do you like to wear sheer fabrics, reveal a lot of flesh or do you choose fitted close fitting clothes?

Do you know how to dress your body shape?

When I had my colours and style done many years ago, I was amazed in the difference dressing for your own body shape made. It also made shopping so much easier. I have a column figure and no definition of a waist; therefore, a boxy long line jacket would not suit, in fact I would look lost. However, a fitted jacket gives an illusion of a waist and if you add padded shoulders that will balance out the look. That is just an example, but it does mean that you can select new items so much easier.

My gift to you

I have written an eBook “How to style your body shape and become the best version of you” Sign up to my mailing list and I will send you a copy of my book totally FREE.

Start with you admire who has a similar figure to you.

For me in the early days it was Lady Diana, I loved the way she dressed and although I was heavier than her, I had a similar body shape. I loved that she wore a blazer with her jeans, she wore lots of tailored blouses and fitted clothes. Obviously, I didn’t buy the same items as her as she wore high end brands, but I found my own version that suited me.

Fashion or your own sense of style?

I like to think that I follow fashion trends, but I interrupt them in my own way. Just because something is in fashion it does not mean it will suit you and your body shape. Having a colour and style session is a one-off investment. You will have learnt which colours will bring out the best in you and how to style your body shape to make camouflage what you wish to hide.

Only wear clothes that make you look and feel fabulous.

When selecting new items of clothes make sure that they make you look and feel good. If you have items in your wardrobe that when you put them on you end up putting them back as you don’t feel right in them. This is when they must go, donate them to a charity of your choice and let someone else enjoy wearing them rather than leaving them in your wardrobe not seeing the light of day. You are looking to build a wardrobe of clothes that make you look and feel fabulous.

Put all your hangers in the wardrobe the other way round and every time you wear something they go back the normal way. This way you will see which items you are wearing and which you are not. This makes decluttering so much easier, and the result is you have a wardrobe full of clothes that you love wearing.
