I love colour for how it makes me look and feel. I have been away for the weekend and visited Chichester, and what a lovely City it was. Here were lots of independent shops and boutiques to browse around. This I saw in a shop window, and I was drawn in by the beautiful colours. The gentleman who owned the shop sourced all his own materials and made everything himself. Everything was beautifully made in all these striking colours. I was very tempted, but I do have a poncho, and these were an investment buy, but it got me thinking. I love colour for how it makes me look and feel, but these colours I found were a little too bright even for me. There were others in less striking colours, but I was drawn to this one. Although I did love the poncho I decided not to buy as I thought I would tire of it. I love colour for how it makes me look and feel. I love colour for how it makes me look and feel. When choosing colour to work with your skin tone what we don’t want to do is wear too much colour. If we do this what happens is you see the clothes before we see the person. This poncho is full on colour and would only suit ladies who were a Bright Spring or Winter who can wear that level of colour. There were more muted shades on the rail which would…

Do you follow fashion, or do you have your own style?
Do you follow fashion, or do you have your own style? This is a good question as if we did follow fashion we would be permanently shopping. Fashion trends change so quickly so you would have to be buying fast fashion. Do you have the ideal figure? Do you follow fashion or do you have your own style? The ideal figure is very much a product of It’s time. Queen Victoria was barely 5 feet tall and was an influencer of her day. She was small and dainty, and women wore flat slippers to be as short as possible. Paintings in the 17th century showed women with an ample covering of flesh at a time when most women couldn’t afford to be so well fed. So how did we get from short and fat to where we are today. In the 1920s the bust-to-waist ratio of the ideal female figure changed dramatically. Curves went out and a straight up and down boyish figure became fashionable. Women bound their breasts to appear to be flat chested. By the 1950s after privations of the second world war the pendulum had swung the other way, and the well-fed hourglass figure of Marilyn Monroe became ideal. Adverts encouraged skinny women to take weight gain tablets supplements. In the 1960’s & 70s it swung back the other way and the athletic slim figure was ideal, strange. Since that time there has been various types of thinness until recently you can buy cycling shorts with …

Do you have difficulty in de-cluttering your wardrobe?
Do you have difficulty in de-cluttering your wardrobe? Recently I have had to practice what I preach and take my own advice on de-cluttering my wardrobe. We decided rather than buying new bedroom furniture we would spray what we already have. Two pine chests with lovely deep drawers and our wardrobes are old MFI laminate doors. They were spray painted with new handles all to match. This all sounds great, but we had to empty the wardrobes and chests and we put all the clothes on our spare bed. If you have difficulty in letting, go for your clothes read on. Do you have difficulty in de-cluttering your wardrobe? Do you feel you have to dress age appropriate? Do you feel you have to dress age appropriate? Well, what is that exactly? My grandma always looked the same for as long as I remember, and my mum had me at age 21yrs so she was not always old. She had white hair, wore twin sets and pearls, midi length skirts and elasticated trousers. I can think back to school age when she was still quite a young woman wearing the same. You are never too old to look good. Do you sometimes feel you cannot be bothered? Just grab any old thing out of the wardrobe. It could be the jumper you wore yesterday that is still hanging on the chair and an old pair of jeans. No-one is coming to the house today, so it does not matter. BUT what about dressing for you? Yes, I do have days when I feel like that, but I choose to wear something uplifting, particularly if I am feeling down. I have a passion for colour because of the way it makes you look and feel. Sometimes, life gets in the way and the last thing you want to do is put on a full makeup and choose an outfit to dress to impress. But most of the time I do make the effort to put an outfit together but I do not usually wear a full make up. I am a wash n go sort of girl. To me the…
