Embrace the off the shoulder & statement sleeves this summer

This season it is all about the sleeves and off the shoulder tops and dresses (the cold shoulder look). I know a lot of my clients are worried about showing the upper arm and with both these trends you are covered. I understand that the shoulders do not age so another reason to show them off. Here are my tips on how to embrace the off the shoulder & statement sleeves this summer.

I have been lusting after this dress for a while, its from Sosandar and they do some lovely dresses. If you have not ordered from them before you can usually get a 20% off voucher as a new customer. Shame I have ordered before!!! If you look around there are a lot of dresses like this available. I have a skirt with a matching top which is similar that I featured in a previous blog last year which was about how to make your  wardrobe work for you with separates.

Separates are so nice to have in your wardrobe because you can make more outfits our of fewer clothes but I do love a dress as it is one item of clothing and you don’t have to stress about finding something to wear with it. With this dress I may put a belt to cinch in the waist.

There are many blouses, tops, and t/shirts available with the off the shoulder. It is important to get the correct underwear. I personally do not like to wear this type of dress with bra straps showing but then I have a small bust and am able to wear a strapless bra.  If you have a large bust and do not want to wear a strapless bra you could go for the cold shoulder which has the straps that you could put your bra strap under. It is all about dressing for your body shape and making the best of the shape you have. If you need any advice on dressing you own figure, please do get in touch.

Here are a couple of examples of the statement sleeves you can find on the High Street. This pink floral one I saw in Matalan today and I loved the sleeves. Three quarter sleeves are so flattering, and these colours would go with so many things that perhaps you already have in your wardrobe.

The white blouse here I saw in Mint Velvet . It is a very sheer fabric so you may have to wear something underneath but I took the picture to show the sleeves. This also had a large price tag of £79.00 and comes in several colours including black beige and pink. If you follow the link, there is a better picture and choice of colour. This would be a versatile top to add to your wardrobe that you could dress up or down. You could put a coloured camisole underneath to make a different look.
