The shops are full of dark winter colours, and I must admit so many of the winter basics are in dark fabrics. There is no need however to wear top to bottom dark colours. Why, not boost your mood by adding colour to your winter basics.

How can I boost my mood by wearing colour?

Yes, you really can boost your mood by wearing colour. All colours vibrate differently and it has been proven that wearing colour can improve your mood. Check out one of my previous blogs about the energies of colour and how it can make you feel here.

How do you do that you may ask? It is simple, break up the dark colours with a pop of colour and this can be done in several ways.

Makeup.

Lipstick – Yes how easy is that to add a nice bright lipstick in your favourite colour. For me that would be a bright orange or red, but for you it might be a pink. This will bring your face alive, and people will be drawn to look at your face.

Accessories.

Scarves – A lot of ladies that I meet are not necessary into wearing scarves ordinarily but in the winter we all love a scarf in the neck to keep us warm. Choose one in a colour from you colour pallet and bring alive your coat or jacket.

Statement necklace – Pull your outfit together with coloured jewellery.

Shoes & Handbags – You can add a pop of colour in your shoes and handbags.

Clothes.

Sleeveless cardigan – These are very fashionable now choose one in your favourite colour. You can still be wearing your black jeans and jumper but with a colour worn over the top.

Layering your clothes – This is a great way to add colour to your outfit as you can wear a colour under or over your darker layers.

Cardigans – I love a cardigan and it is a bit of a joke in my house as I never go out without one. Here I have found one in Marks & Spencer which is a good store of basics like this. This one comes in at £17.50 and comes in seven colours, cerise, petal pink, oatmeal, ultraviolet, hyacinth, navy and green. There is sure to be a colour for you. Wear it buttoned up, half buttoned with a camisole underneath or worn undone. You could have your black or navy trouser and a dark top underneath if you like but that pop of colour will make all the difference. Trust me it will make all the difference to how you feel.

Jackets – I love a blazer in a bright colour, these are so versatile and can be worn over so many items in your wardrobe. Trousers, jeans, skirts, and dresses. A plain black dress worn with a jacket in a bright pink of red will bring the dress alive.
