Start planning your Spring/Summer Wardrobe

Spring/Summer wardrobe How to de-clutter and organise your spring/summer wardrobe Spring is nearly here although it didn’t feel like it this morning.  So now is a good time to start planning your spring/summer wardrobe and clearing what you no longer need and buying new pieces to fill in the gaps. So where do I start? You need to start by de-cluttering what you no longer need. Now you do need to be honest here!!  When did I last wear it?  If you have not worn it for a while there must be a reason.  Is it something you take out of the wardrobe and put back deciding to wear something else instead?   If so,  you need to ask these questions, Do I love it? Does it fit me? Does it make me look great?  and Does it make me feel good to wear it?  If you answer No to any of those questions it needs to go. Has a garment just go too old and is looking washed out, ( t shirts often only last a season) perhaps it no longer fits you as you are not as slim as you used to be but either way you do need to be honest as you don’t want a wardrobe full of clothes that you are never going to wear as you won’t be able to see the ones that you do. Try not to feel too guilty I you have paid a lot for something and think it is wasteful as if you re not going…

Get That Body Confidence You Deserve

How wearing the right clothes for you body shape will make you feel confident about your body!! Get that body confidence we all deserve.  I think we all have bits about our bodies that we don’t like, in my teens I was very thin and lacked shape, no bust to speak of very thin legs and got a lot of teasing at school because of it.  It was not until my early 30’s that I started to accept my body as it is. We put our bodies through so much each day we need to be kind to them, accept them for what they are and dress them to make the most of the figure we have. I am often talking about colours and the energy they have and why certain colours make you feel a certain way and I am a great believer in that, but also dressing for you shape is also very important. Style is a way of saying who you are without hearing you speak We all have bits of our body we would like to hide and bits we want to enhance.  Getting it right and knowing that you look great will make you feel good too. And then you can strut you stuff knowing that that makes you look even better. Loving the way you look will make dressing a pleasure not something you used to hate, it may even change the way you see yourself. Once you have the confidence in the way you look it…

Are you wearing the right sized bra?

Are you wearing the right sized bra?  It is so important that you are wearing the right sized bra and correct underwear as it acts a foundation for any clothes that you put on top.  A large percentage of ladies are wearing the wrong sized bra and not making the most of their fabulous curves. How to decide if you are wearing the right sized bra! If the band around the chest is too tight your flesh will spill over the top. Are you wearing the right sized bra?   If the cups are too small what happens is that you get another bust that comes over the top of the cup giving you another bust.  If the cups are too big you can end up with the cups puckering and not giving a smooth look.  Get it right and you will have a nice canvas to put your clothes. Are you wearing the right sized bra? Get it right and it will enhance the look of your clothes!  I have known clients find their waist once they are wearing the right size bra. This is an investment buy, you can get measured by any department store, M & S or I have a lady that I can recommend you too. Are your wearing the right sized bra? It is also recommend to have several styled bras in your wardrobe to wear with different things. Strapless T/Shirt bra to wear under tight fitting tops underwired plunge bra for open necked tops…

How to Wear your scarves?

How to wear your scarves to the best advantage By adding a scarf to an outfit can really bring your outfit alive.  For arguments sake take the little black dress, black is not a colour that every lady should wear as it can take all the colour out of her face but if you add a brightly coloured scarf in your colour pallet it will reflect the colour up onto your face and the effect can be stunning. We are spoilt for choice on the High Street as so many stores now  sell scarves as they not only compliment an outfit but they also are warm to wear.  I have a scarf to compliment most of my different coloured tops and dresses in my five power colours. I love to wear red, not only because I know that the colour does suit me but also it gives me energy and being self employed working from home it helps to keep me motivated. Take a look at this photo ( bottom left) by adding this lovely scarf bought for me by a very good friend and adding one of my gorgeous pendants see how stunning it looks, it brings a plain jumper alive.  The scarf pendant I love as I can move it from scarf to scarf unlike a lot that you buy that are permanently attached to a particular scarf. Turn your nice outfit to fab by adding a scarf. This of course is not the only way to wear a scarf as they can…

How to De-Clutter Your Wardrobe

How to build a workable wardrobe that works for you. De-cluttering is an emotional time as clothes are filled with memories, and are personal to you.  We all hold onto items in case they come back in fashion or just in case we may need to wear that little black dress. I would suggest that you start with your wardrobe first followed by your chest of drawers and move onto footwear,  you may get the bug and want to work through your house. When did you last wear it? For every item ask yourself, when did I last wear it? If you  have not worn it for a while there must be a reason, Do I love it?  Does it fit me? If not can it be altered? Is it in one of my best colours?.  Next step to try it on, how does it look, do I feel good in it? We are aiming to end up with a wardrobe of clothes that we not only look good in but make us feel good too.  Some of you may like to have a friend with them, someone who knows you and you feel comfortable to give you an honest opinion. Be Honest Now you have to be honest with yourself, if it does not fit anymore am I likely to be able to slim down enough to be able to wear it again.  Try not to feel too guilty if you have paid a lot for something and think it is wasteful …

Which jeans do I buy to suit my body shape?

There is so much choice on the high street these days!!  So where do I start?    How do I choose the right pair for me?  Jeans are very personal it  depends on your style, your body shape and what you are going to wear with them. Skinny Jeans Styled correctly can look good on most body shapes. Skinny jeans look good with ballet pumps, high sandals and tucked into a lovely pair of boots which makes them so versatile. Layering is the key, wear with a shirt under a long knit jumper to make your upper half look longer. Tunics look good or a long line cardigan. To straighten out curvier hips team with a hip skimming blazer. If you are conscious of your tummy choose a high waist Jean with some built in support to smooth out your troublesome tummy. Choose a stretchy denim for added comfort. Kick Flare Jeans These are a favourite of mine and not only are they seriously chic but they are great for adding shape particularly if you are a tall slim lady like myself.  If you go for a pair that skim the floor and hang over your shoes they can make your legs look long. If you choose a pair that kick out from the knee they will create an hourglass silhouette particularly if you are big busted. Boot Cut Jeans You can never go wrong with a good pair of Boot cut Jeans a wardrobe staple in my mind,  and if you…

Colour/Style Gift Vouchers Make ideal Gifts

Do you know anyone who would love one? I am always hearing lovely stories from ladies about their partners buying lovely presents that are a complete surprise, whilst others have to write a list of what to buy, where to buy it, colour size and price etc.  At least this way, you get something that you want and not something that will be put at the back of the cupboard, or  (if he has given you a gift receipt) you can return after Christmas. One present my husband bought me many years ago was a Colour & Style Voucher, at the time my daughter was very young and I was only working part time and it was not something I would have bought for myself, therefore it was a real treat.  This has been one of the best presents I have ever had!!  It was from there that I decided one day that I would love to become a Colour & Style Coach myself and the rest they say is history. Why a Colour Consultation Gift Voucher? Having a Colour Consultation is a one off, you go away with a swatch of 30  colours that are the very best colours for you personally.  They will bring out the colour of your eyes, give your skin a healthier glow, more definition to face shapes and slim body lines.  Colour is the essence of successful dressing, it effects how we feel and how people respond to us,  getting it right gives us more confidence. A Colour Consultation Gift Voucher is £75.00  It will…

A slim waist? Fake it with my fashion tips.

If you don’t have a slim waist? How do you fake it? There are several ways you can do this especially if you have a boyish figure with no waist definition like me you have to give the illusion of curves even if they are not there and that means staying away from big baggy styles with no structure. Flared Trousers To get the effect of a slim waist try wearing boot cuts, flares and palazzos suit most shapes as they balance your legs and skim your hips making your waist look smaller.  If you are looking to avoid or hide your muffin top try high-waisted as this will also make your legs look longer.   If you are lucky enough to have a slim waist you can try hipsters. A Line Skirts A line skirts come in all styles, designs and lengths, and if you find a well fitting one it will accentuate your waist and slim your hips making your waist look smaller and slimmer.   If you are looking to cover your tummy wear with a hip length top or if you are petite team it with a short jacket. This also goes for dresses that have an A line skirt to them as it will give the same effect Wrap Tops These are the perfect choice if you are bigger busted as this style will compliment your cleavage.  If however you are smaller busted choose a printed fabric.  If you are looking to disguise your tummy there are several styles…
