January is a hard month for most people and now we are in February I think we can think about spring as it is just around the corner. For me I love the Spring colours, watching the spring flowers blooming and the thought of warmer weather around the corner. Here are my tips for key staples for your spring wardrobe.
Key staples for your spring wardrobe
When I think of Spring I think of ditching my winter coat from something lighter. This coat I have just bought from Tu@ Sainsbury’s . Katie bought one very similar in Top Shop last year in powder blue. It has a lovely blue striped lining and you can turn the cuffs back. There is also a hood if it rains so no need for an umbrella. Here I have teamed it with Navy Blue polo neck. The fabric is a shiny material that is shower proof.
The beauty of this coat is as it is not fitted I can put my navy fleece jacket underneath if it is cold. So, this will take me from now into the summer. It also comes in a beautiful yellow if that is a colour you can wear. I have seen similar coats in other stores in other colours.
I think for the Spring weather, it is a good idea to go for layers. Being a lady of a certain age, I choose natural fabrics. I have several long- sleeved t/shirts that I can wear under cardigans and you can always add a scarf which is easily removed. Another alternative would be a blouse or shirt.

As many of you know, I am known for my signature Red and Orange which are my favourite colours. However, I am starting to wear a green as I have found the right shade of green for me. Here is as blouse I have recently bought which I love. It is the perfect shade of green for me as it has a yellow undertone. It came from the Autograph range at Marks & Spencer £29.50
What I liked about it was the sleeves, which are pleated on the shoulder and they come down to a lovely cuff with big gold buttons. The hem of the blouse has a rounded bottom which is so nice and suits most shapes. I hate it when the bottom is straight as that just adds the pounds to anybody.
I am going to wear this tucked into a pair of black evening trousers for an event I am going to this weekend. Also, you can wear outside on a pair of your favourite jeans. I love this colour worn with blue. I had to take the picture outside, so you could see the lovely colour. If the weather is still cold you can wear some warm underwear.

Another very good item to move your wardrobe from winter to spring is a pair of loafers. At this time of year, they do come in lots of lovely colours to choose from. Here I have found a pair of Nude Patent Loafers from Next at £28.00 This colour goes with so many things but you can be brave and go for a bright colour if you prefer.
These will look great with your skinny jeans, or you can wear with your winter skirts and opaque tights.
One item that comes out every spring for me is my denim jacket. It goes with so many things, very casual over a t/shirt or jumper or worn over a nice summer dress.
