How to Wear your scarves?
How to wear your scarves to the best advantage By adding a scarf to an outfit can really bring your outfit alive. For arguments sake take the little black dress, black is not a colour that every lady should wear as it can take all the colour out of her face but if you add a brightly coloured scarf in your colour pallet it will reflect the colour up onto your face and the effect can be stunning. We are spoilt for choice on the High Street as so many stores now sell scarves as they not only compliment an outfit but they also are warm to wear. I have a scarf to compliment most of my different coloured tops and dresses in my five power colours. I love to wear red, not only because I know that the colour does suit me but also it gives me energy and being self employed working from home it helps to keep me motivated. Take a look at this photo ( bottom left) by adding this lovely scarf bought for me by a very good friend and adding one of my gorgeous pendants see how stunning it looks, it brings a plain jumper alive. The scarf pendant I love as I can move it from scarf to scarf unlike a lot that you buy that are permanently attached to a particular scarf. Turn your nice outfit to fab by adding a scarf. This of course is not the only way to wear a scarf as they can…

How to build a workable wardrobe that works for you. De-cluttering is an emotional time as clothes are filled with memories, and are personal to you. We all hold onto items in case they come back in fashion or just in case we may need to wear that little black dress. I would suggest that you start with your wardrobe first followed by your chest of drawers and move onto footwear, you may get the bug and want to work through your house. When did you last wear it? For every item ask yourself, when did I last wear it? If you have not worn it for a while there must be a reason, Do I love it? Does it fit me? If not can it be altered? Is it in one of my best colours?. Next step to try it on, how does it look, do I feel good in it? We are aiming to end up with a wardrobe of clothes that we not only look good in but make us feel good too. Some of you may like to have a friend with them, someone who knows you and you feel comfortable to give you an honest opinion. Be Honest Now you have to be honest with yourself, if it does not fit anymore am I likely to be able to slim down enough to be able to wear it again. Which jeans do I buy to suit my body shape?
There is so much choice on the high street these days!! So where do I start? How do I choose the right pair for me? Jeans are very personal it depends on your style, your body shape and what you are going to wear with them. Skinny Jeans Styled correctly can look good on most body shapes. Skinny jeans look good with ballet pumps, high sandals and tucked into a lovely pair of boots which makes them so versatile. Layering is the key, wear with a shirt under a long knit jumper to make your upper half look longer. Tunics look good or a long line cardigan. To straighten out curvier hips team with a hip skimming blazer. If you are conscious of your tummy choose a high waist Jean with some built in support to smooth out your troublesome tummy. Choose a stretchy denim for added comfort. Kick Flare Jeans These are a favourite of mine and not only are they seriously chic but they are great for adding shape particularly if you are a tall slim lady like myself. If you go for a pair that skim the floor and hang over your shoes they can make your legs look long. If you choose a pair that kick out from the knee they will create an hourglass silhouette particularly if you are big busted. Boot Cut Jeans You can never go wrong with a good pair of Boot cut Jeans a wardrobe staple in my mind, and if you…
Colour/Style Gift Vouchers Make ideal Gifts
Do you know anyone who would love one? I am always hearing lovely stories from ladies about their partners buying lovely presents that are a complete surprise, whilst others have to write a list of what to buy, where to buy it, colour size and price etc. At least this way, you get something that you want and not something that will be put at the back of the cupboard, or (if he has given you a gift receipt) you can return after Christmas. One present my husband bought me many years ago was a Colour & Style Voucher, at the time my daughter was very young and I was only working part time and it was not something I would have bought for myself, therefore it was a real treat. This has been one of the best presents I have ever had!! It was from there that I decided one day that I would love to become a Colour & Style Coach myself and the rest they say is history. Why a Colour Consultation Gift Voucher? Having a Colour Consultation is a one off, you go away with a swatch of 30 colours that are the very best colours for you personally. They will bring out the colour of your eyes, give your skin a healthier glow, more definition to face shapes and slim body lines. Colour is the essence of successful dressing, it effects how we feel and how people respond to us, getting it right gives us more confidence. A Colour Consultation Gift Voucher is £75.00 It will…
A slim waist? Fake it with my fashion tips.
If you don’t have a slim waist? How do you fake it? There are several ways you can do this especially if you have a boyish figure with no waist definition like me you have to give the illusion of curves even if they are not there and that means staying away from big baggy styles with no structure. Flared Trousers To get the effect of a slim waist try wearing boot cuts, flares and palazzos suit most shapes as they balance your legs and skim your hips making your waist look smaller. If you are looking to avoid or hide your muffin top try high-waisted as this will also make your legs look longer. If you are lucky enough to have a slim waist you can try hipsters. A Line Skirts A line skirts come in all styles, designs and lengths, and if you find a well fitting one it will accentuate your waist and slim your hips making your waist look smaller and slimmer. If you are looking to cover your tummy wear with a hip length top or if you are petite team it with a short jacket. This also goes for dresses that have an A line skirt to them as it will give the same effect Wrap Tops These are the perfect choice if you are bigger busted as this style will compliment your cleavage. If however you are smaller busted choose a printed fabric. If you are looking to disguise your tummy there are several styles…
Are you a Savvy Shopper?
Shopping for clothes these days gets more complicated for some people, should you buy online? or should you trudge around the shops? , I guess we all have different ideas about that, some people love the convenience of buying on line so you can try it on in the comfort of your own home with items you already have in your wardrobe whilst others, like me prefer to shop and get that retail buzz of buying something new to wear. So how do you bag yourself a bargain? Designer Items If you like to have designer items there are several sites such as buymywardrobe.com or hardlyeverwornit.com or editsecondhand.com where you can invest in second-hand designer pieces such as handbags and coats. Locally I would recommend Fairy Tale Wardrobe in Chelmsford where you can visit the shop and they will also sell your items for you as well. The other one is Friends Dress Agency in Bishops Stortford which will do the same. They both have a Facebook page where you can view before you go. It is really a good idea to use these outlets to sell items in your wardrobe that you do not wear anymore for whatever reason. If you have not worn if or a year or so that is good enough reason to let it go, if it no longer fits you don’t hang on to it hoping you will slim down to get back into it just let it go. Charity shops are always willing to take it…
My Blazer is one of my wardrobe staples
My Blazers are one of my wardrobe staples My favourite is a navy one is something I would not be without in my wardrobe as it goes with so many outfits, it can look chic, casual, sporty or smart depending on what you put it with. I remember having one in the eighties double breasted with gold buttons which was the trend at that time and I have replaced them ever since. The Boyfriend one a few years back, ones with turned back cuffs but I feel that it is a staple in any wardrobe whatever your style. They come in all shapes and sizes depending on which shape is good for you, fitted at the waist, short and boxy or long line the choice is yours!! Mine is fitted to give the illusion of a waist as I don’t have one. How to Wear Your Blazer ( One of my wardrobe staple items) My favourite look is with a pair of denim jeans, crisp white blouse, red jumper and a pair of loafers, you could tie a scarf in the neck. White Jeans are an option in the summer with a nice T shirt, add the blazer for those cooler evenings Pair of 7/8th trousers or even a smart pair of shorts for the younger lady It goes over a nice dress as a jacket It can be worn with a co-ordinated skirt or trousers for a more formal look. I always take it on holiday with me to travel in as…
What Should I Wear To A Networking Event?
Now the summer is over and we are all back to work, we are also back to Networking, but what should we wear? Everyone says that people would have made an assumption of you in the first 30 seconds, so how do you make that great first impression bearing in mind that people will remember you for what you wear. It is so easy for to men to dress for a Networking event, because they don’ t have the choice us ladies do. Most networking is either first thing in the morning, lunch time of after work so it just easy to go straight from work which usually means they are in a suit or jackets and trousers, but I have noticed now that some are just dressed smart casual as the workplace now days is more relaxed. Should I wear a Suit? When I first started networking having had a corporate back ground, felt that you had to wear a suit because that is what used to be expected. Yes there were lots of ladies there wearing suits and jackets and skirts/trouser suits but I must admit that some did not look very uncomfortable because perhaps it was not their personality. Should you wear your uniform? Now if you are a beautician or therapist for arguments sake, that it easy and I would suggest that you go in your business uniform. If you have your own T/Shirt with your business logo on that is good as people will instantly recognise you. Remember…
