Should you let your hair go grey naturally? and go old gracefully or should you dye it? This is such a personal question and one only you can answer. For me personally, now I am having some highlights in my hair to lift and camouflage any grey. At some time I guess, I will have to have a block colour, but will hold on for as long as I can.
Warm
I have a warm complexion and my grey is a creamy grey which I personally do not like, so I think for me, I will always add some warm lights to it. What you must bear in mind, if you are adding colour, you are adding the right colour. You need to go to a hairdresser who is experienced colour and who can advise you what shades to go for. So, if you have a warm complexion you need to add warm tones to your hair as this will then compliment your skin tone.
Should you let your hair go grey naturally?
Get if wrong and it will make you look tired and drawn just like wearing the wrong colour. I have done some colour consultations in the past, where clients have dyed their hair too dark for their skin and it just does not sit right. My advice to anyone looking to add colour to is to get some good advice from someone that knows.
Now, if you are adding a block colour to your hair, it is important to have it done regularly because there is nothing worse than seeing the growth. The bigger the change in colour the worse it will look.
Cool
Now if you are a cool toned lady the choices are so much more because I think that the colour of your grey is so much nicer. It is a crisp colour and whilst you are in the transition period the salt and pepper look is very attractive.
The point I would like to make here is, if you choose to let yourself go grey naturally, you must wear some colour. If you wear grey drab clothes it will make you look older, tired and uninteresting. Compliment your grey hair with some colourful outfits. If you are a winter go for some lovely vibrant pinks, blues and purples. If you are at the other end of the cool spectrum choose some muted shades of the same.
If, however, you don’t want to let yourself go grey, you don’t have too. With a cool skin tone, you need to add cool colours to your hair either in high lights or a block colour. It really is personal choice, but do get some advice as it does make a difference.
Should you let your hair go grey naturally?
Your hairstyle really is an outfit that you wear every-day, so it is so important to get it right. Have your hair cut and styled reguarly I go every six weeks for a cut and twelve weeks for my colour. If you have a block colour you will need to have your roots done every six weeks too. This is an investment in you, it will give you confidence, and make you feel good about yourself. I don’t think of a haircut as a treat, but a necessity that I have done regularly.
What are your thoughts drop me a line to let me know what you think, should you let your hair go grey naturally?
I hope that has given you some ideas as to should you let your hair go grey naturally? After all it is your personal choice.

I’m one year into letting my hair go naturally grey. I’m a winter so it suits me better than my old brunette hair now I’ve turned 50. I can highly recommend it – so liberating not having to have my roots done every 3 to 4 weeks.
Yes cool ladies do have lovely grey hair, if you need any help with colours for your clothes please do get in touch. regards Sandra
I let my natural grey grow through a year ago, I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done.
At 46 I was nervous it would make me look really old, but actually I can now get away with wearing stronger colours, leaving me looking fun and funky, and my hair is in the best condition it’s been in for years.
Thats fantastic news, for some people it the best thing to do, i just feel that some of us are too nervous to do it.Wearing stonger colours is always a good idea and will give you more energy as well. Thank you for your comments.
What interesting comments. I’m fortunate to only just starting to go grey but a few friends of my age are.. after the initial shock when I see them, they all look amazing and seem to be more confident somehow!
I’m a summer and can get away with some highlights at the moment.
Plus what a saving in hair colour in time and money.
