What will you be wearing to your Christmas Party?

It’s that time of year again and party season is upon us. Do we drag out something from last year or do we invest in something new? Will anyone know if we wore the dress to last years do? No, I don’t think so can you remember what other colleagues wore to last years party? So, what will you be wearing to your Christmas Party?

I have been thinking, I have two parties to go to this year, my husband’s works do and a 50 yrs birthday party and was wondering what to wear for both. No-one apart from the hosts know me at the birthday party but the works do know me well. I have been looking around the shops and see that velvet is back in the shops. Velvet used to be a staple at Christmas, but I have not seen much of it in recent years, but this year there is lots of it. Trouser suits, tops and skirts and I must admit they can be very versatile, and you will be able to get your wear out of them.

I have found these two tops that I think you can dress up or down and wear in different ways. Not everyone has a party to go to but likes to dress up a little on Christmas Day. I think both you can do that with. I have a pair of dressy trousers with the velvet stripe down the side and thought that either of these velvet tops would look good with the trousers. On the other hand, I have a black leather look skirt which I could wear with thick black tights and ankle boots. Or I could team either top with a pair of black jeans for a night out. The red one on the left is a John Rocha Red Velvet V Neck Short Sleeved Top from Debenhams retailing at £35.00 and reduced to £24.50.

On the right a Teal one also from Debenhams.  Dark Green Velvet Short Sleeved Top. This retails at £18.00 and has been reduced to £14.40. This also comes in a lovely bright red. (I have ordered all three to make a choice!!)

If a dress is more your thing there are loads to choose from. Try not to go for the usual LBD (Little Black Dress) and choose a colour instead. Ladies I know some think black to be slimming, but any dark colour will do the same. Why not try a navy, dark red, dark green or perhaps a purple?

I like this Teal Lace Dress at £48.00 from Next it also comes in Red & Black. This is the sort of dress that will not date and be in your wardrobe for many years to come.

If you still feel that a black dress is the best option for you, these are plenty of those to choose from. My advice would be to put the colour in your accessories. With black you can wear almost any colour with it. As its Christmas a sparkly necklace is always good, or statement ear rings. Colourful bags and shoes always work well.
