Let’s step into your summer wardrobe

Wow what a wonderful week, the sun shone brightly with soring temperatures.  We had lovely blue skies and many of us took to the outside.  I don’t know about you but when the sun shines, I do too.  Sounds corny but so true for me.  I love summer clothes so much more than winter ones and I love being in the sunshine. This is my favourite time of year. It is so much fun to get out of your wardrobe all those lovely summer clothes. Some items have been in my wardrobe for years and carry very special memories from holidays long gone. Let’s step into your summer wardrobe.

How do you stay cool?

When I am working or travelling around I like to wear a loose-fitting dress as I hate wearing tight fitting waist bands when it is hot. Next has a lovely range of dresses in a linen mix and as they have a pattern on the fabric the creases are minimal.  These are very good value starting at £24 – £36 and look great on many body shapes.  Another favourite style in a dress is an empire line which hangs from the bust usually in gentle folds.  These are also very cool to wear hanging from the bust loose around the waist.

Pay attention to the material of the garment and stay away from manmade fabrics.  I try to buy a cotton mix, (100% cotton can crease easily) but there are lots of cotton mixes out there that are great to wear.

A stay away for dry clean only in the summer months when our clothes need washing more often.

Maxi Dresses

Another huge favourite in the summer and super cool to wear is the maxi dress. Dress down in the day time with flip flops and dress up in the evening with a pair of sparkly sandals and some nice coloured jewellery for a more glamorous look.  These are every wear on the high street. I found this lovely one in Kaleidoscope online for £37 the beauty of this one is it is in a crinkle effect fabric which will travel well.  It also has a floating bodice which is flattering and cool to wear.

Summer Trousers

Another firm favourite is the palazzo pants which are also great to take on holiday as you can team them with different tops, to make more outfits.  If you are not a favourite of the wide leg there are many straight leg versions available in some fabulous prints with tapered legs.  Pick a couple of t/shirt tops from the colours in the prints to add that pop of colour. Of course, if you are going away somewhere hot I always leave my jeans at home. If you are dressing for the British weather I love coloured trousers/skinny jeans in all the great colours that are available.  Team these coloured jeans with another coloured top and embrace some colour this summer.

Bring on the colour!!
