Yes it is that time of year when the weather is so changeable you don’t know what to put on in the morning and so layers are a good idea, put more on when it is cold and take off as you warm up. So here are my top tips on how to layer your clothes in a stylish way.
On trend this spring is the return of the shirt dress, well in fact I don’t think they are ever not around as they are so versitile. Stripes are also everywhere in all designs so why not try a striped shirt dress like this one here. Now you can wear it a it is buttoned through with perhaps a nice belt if it is a nice spring day. Team it with a coloured camisole underneath and your favourite black jeans and wear loose like a jacket. Another thing you might already have in your wardrobe would be a sleeveless jacket I have one in black that would look great with this dress I would then add a pop of colour with a red top underneath and perhaps red shoes and add a red belt to tie it all together. If it is a colder day you could layer with a warmer top underneath and a layer on top with a coatigan. (cross between a cardigan and a coat) and team with some black leggins/jeggins. This shirt dress is really very useful to have in your wardrobe.
Also as stripes are a big thing this season there are striped shirts every where, which you can layer in much the same way. Try a jumper over the top this looks nice if you can leave the bottom of the shirt showing as seen in the picture below or you can tuck into your jeans.
Once it is warm enough to ditch the winter coat but not warm enough to go without, why not try a Trench Coat and there are loads of these on the high street. These are a particulary good choice if you are shopping as often a coat can be too hot inside the shops. I personally have a beige one like this in my wardrobe which I have had for years and each year I bring it back out again, so it is very much a core item in my wardrobe. If you want to go for a colour just make sure that you buy one in your own colour pallet that you are not going to tire from wearing or that will date.
I absolutely love mine, it great to wear in the car on those times when you don’t need a coat but you do need something and they are so stylish. They come in all sorts of designs and colours but I would suggest you buy something fairly nutural that will go with lots of things in your wardrobe. They are great with jeans but also look very nice to dress up with a skirt or dress if you were wearing to the office. If it is colder you can add a nice big scarf around the neck. Another key peice for your wardrobe that will work with you from now into the spring.
So I hope that I have given you some ideas on how layer your clothes in a stylish way.
