The perfect alternative to the little black dress

The shops are full of clothes for the festive season everything from the Christmas jumpers through to party wear. As expected there is a lot of black, the typical party wear colour.  Looking around there are some lovely colours out there this year to choose from.  Avoiding black this year will be a lot easier. I am going to show you the perfect alternative to the little black dress.

We have all heard of the LRD (Little Red Dress). The little red dresses are plentiful this year as red really is the colour of the season. As some of you know red is one of my favourite colours.  So, I am spoilt for choice this year as there is red everywhere. Look at this stunning jumpsuit from Next which is in a red satin material with the cold shoulder effect and retails at £58.00

I tried this on myself, because I liked it and I was looking for a new outfit to take away with me.  As I have a long waist I was not sure if it would be long enough in the body or, if the leg length would work for me and my long legs. Surprising enough it fitted on both accounts.  For me, it was too big in the bust and also it was cut low in the neckline. It would ideally suit a lady with a fuller bust and someone who enjoys wearing colour as it is a great alternative to wearing black.

For those of you who can wear black, this does also come in black but for me it looks stunning in this red.

I love the colour of this pink long sleeve ruffle dress also from next retailing at £50.00. The sleeves are split from the top to the cuff.  It has what looks like sequins across the dress giving it that evening feel about it. Some of my clients are looking to cover their arms and this achieves this in a nice elegant way.  This is a very simple style and that is what I like about it. The colour does looks like a cool pink.  If you are a winter or summer lady it would work well with your colouring.

For a more versatile dress that you can dress down try this Velvet Dress one from Monsoon. It was £69.00 but has been reduced to £54.00 at the time of writing this, the perfect party style for this season. It is cut with a mock wrap bodice and is precisely gathered at the waist for a flattering effect. The dress is in a beautiful Navy which although is still a dark colour is more forgiving than black and less draining.

If you prefer to wear trousers, try this lovely top from Marks & Spencer.  This is from their Autograph range and retails at just £25.00. A Metallic round neck long sleeved t-shirt which has a lovely gold sheen to it. The bell sleeves are on trend and split at the bottom, as well as a split hem for easy movement. Here it is teamed with some red trousers but it would also look good with your favourite jeans.

I hope that has given you some inspiration for choosing this year’s Christmas outfit. Here are just a few outfits that are the perfect alternative to the little black dress. Try wearing some colour and feel the difference in how it makes you feel.
Wearing colour will not only make you look good but make you feel good too.!
