Here’s a quick way to update your wardrobe

Wouldn’t we all like to do this?  Yes, you can and without spending much money, by looking at your wardrobe with a fresh eye. I think it is all too easy to wear the same outfits time and time again, because you know they work well together so why re-invent the wheel? Here’s a quick way to update your wardrobe –  without breaking the bank.

I have a passion for colour which I guess is no real surprise considering I am a Colour and Style Coach. Colour can do so much to bring your outfit alive. Have some fun with colour, experiment by trying different colours together. “Blue and green should never be seen unless there’s a colour in between.” We have all heard that but I think that nature never gets it wrong.  Take this picture, that I took, nature at its best. Here there are several shades of green, brown and look how the sky contrasts so well.

So, I would say that blue and green go lovely together. It’s just a question of choosing the right shade of green and blue for you.

Stand back and look at the clothes that you already have and think about how you can utilise colour to re-vamp my current wardrobe.

Try styling different colours together

It is always so easy to wear navy trousers or a skirt and put that together with a white blouse and there is nothing wrong with that. Let’s make that more interesting. Navy is a good base colour, it’s not as harsh as black but a good neutral colour to team other colours with it. Depending on which are your good power colours you could try Pink, Red, Yellow, Mustard, Coral or another shade of Blue. You could also go for a patterned fabric with your favourite colours. Using these ideas, will not only add colour to your outfit but it will give you more energy the more virbrant the colour.

Colour brings people to life!

Styling with accessories

This is another way to create your own personal style. Here are some of my tips

  • Add a colourful scarf (see your workshops tab for my next workshop)
  • Add a colourful statement necklace this will brighten any top
  • Belts – very underestimated but they can add curves to the boyish figure
  • Shoes/Boots have fun with these as they can make or break an outfit
  • Hand bags lots of choice for colour and size (they also do not need to match your shoes)
  • Hats if they are your thing

I think that if you can have some fun, invite around a friend, take out a few of your favourite outfits from the wardrobe and try to style them in a different way.  Take look at this Breton top form Marks and Spencer styled three different ways. You will surprise yourself how many outfits you can make out if a few key pieces. You really can update your wardrobe without spending a fortune.

I am a great lover of Pinterest and I have lots of fashion boards on there but take a look at my colour pallets board as there are some ideas on there of colours to put together which you may not have thought of.
