Why Should You Have a Colour Consultation?

There is a lot of pressure out there to wear certain colours because they are in fashion. This season is mustard is one of those colours, but if you do not have a warm skintone mustard would not be a good look for you. So why should you have a Colour Consultation?

Which colours should I wear?
Which colours should I wear?

A colour consultation with me involves putting my drapes and wands around the face to firstly decide if you have either a warm or cool skintone.  Next we decide what level of colour you like to wear and as you can see from my colour wands it is like turning up or down the dimmer switch of colour.

As we all know we are all made up of energy and colours are just the same.  Once we have put the colours on and allowed the body to soak up the energy, our skin will tell us if it suits us or not. During our consultation we will talk about why wearing certain colours we feel a certain way.  Some colours will give us energy whilst others will deplete our energy.

Wearing the right colours will bring out the colours of your eyes, give your skin a youthful glow, make your hair shine and overall give a smooth complexion.

Wearing the wrong colours will have the opposite effect and make you look tired, stressed, drawn and generally unwell. (These are the colours you need to wear when visiting the doctor!!)

These drapes were originally used to determine whether a clients should wear gold or silver but they are very good comparison drapes to show whether the client has a warm and cool skin tone which you can see here very clearly. The silver has calmed down the redness on Lindas cheek and on the gold side the face has dropped slightly.

Here Linda has a cool pink drape on the left and on the right she has a warm red drape.  The pink has evened out her skin tone, whereas the bright warm red has brought out the colour in her cheeks.

On Linda’s left shoulder she has a nice cool green which again has evened out her skin tone whereas the warm lime green has brought out the colour in her cheeks.  What seems to be happening here is that the warm colours bring out the colour in Linda’s skin and the cool colours cool her down and minimise the redness in her skin.   This often happens but is more prominent in some clients than others.

Now we have decided that Linda has a cool skintone we have also decided what level of colour that she likes to wear by using our colour wands as shown in the top of this blog.  In this picture you  can clearly see that once we allow the energies of the colours time to settle on Linda’s skin how good they look.  Her complexion has very much cooled down and the redness from her face has disappeared.  I have chosen three colours on her left shoulder that she could use as base colours and three colours on her right shoulder that she could use for tops and all three on each side will mix and match.  This means that she will need less clothes but be able to make more outfits.  Everytime she buys a new item for her wardrobe she knows that she will already have something to wear with it.

Having a colour consultation can get you noticed for all the right reasons, no longer will you get over looked for promotion.  Wearing the right colours will give you energy and confidence knowing you look and feel fabulous. Make that great first impression!!

After a colour consultation with me you will go home with a swatch of 30 colours to keep and take shopping with you.  This will become your bible when shopping for new items for your wardrobe and enable you to always choose the best colour and shade to suit you.

This is a testimonial from Linda

My wardrobe consists of a range of uncoordinated items, often impulse buys, mainly safe colours and not very inspiring. So, having decided I’m long overdue for a change, I thought Sandra’s Colourworx consultation would be a good place to start.

The consultation started with a cup of coffee in Sandra’s kitchen and a general chat about clothes, the impact of different colours and styles, all of which I knew very little about.  It was all very relaxed and informal, which I like, and Sandra’s obvious knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for what she does were infectious so I felt quite excited at the prospect of getting started.

At first I just watched and listened as Sandra draped different coloured swatches of material across my shoulders, rejecting some and keeping others, all the while explaining how skin reacts to different colours and shades of colour.  It wasn’t long before I started noticing for myself which colours and shades of colour seemed to work best and which ones didn’t suit me at all and perhaps just as important, understanding why.

By the end of the session I felt like I had a good grasp of my needs and what suits me and what doesn’t and what combinations of colour and style to look out for.  I was particularly pleased to discover that strong, bold, cool colours suit me best and yellow isn’t a good colour for me in any shade – I’ve never worn anything yellow that I can recall.  I was very happy with the analysis as I like the thought of being bold and vibrant and I think now I’ll have the confidence to be more adventurous when buying new clothes.  So, armed with my style analysis report and selection of sample colours I look forward to updating my wardrobe with clothes that make the best of me.

Time and money well spent.  I only wish I’d done it sooner.
