My top tips on how to wear the current trend of neutrals

The current trends every where you look seem to be neutrals which as a colour consultant don’t sit right with me. Also, not everyone suits beige and caramel colours. It seems to be that they are mixing different tones of cream, beige, toffee and caramel colours together in an outfit. But, where is the colour? here are my top tips on how to wear the current trend of neutrals.

If you are a warmed skin tone lady like me, you do suit these creams, and caramel colours but I would team them with some colour. I am passionate about colour and not only wear colour for the look but also for the way it makes me feel. All colours have an energy and give off their own energy which is why wearing colour makes you feel good. Here is a lovely ochre jacket from Next which tones beautifully with these caramel trousers and retails at £60.00

These belted wide leg tan trousers are from Next at £42.00 The top also from Next at £30.00 This is a great way to brighten up an outfit. The jacket will also look great with jeans and white trousers in the summer and so a great investment piece.

Other colours that would work with this caramel for warm toned ladies would include, orange/red, warm green, rust, salmon pink, and blue. Caramel is a great neutral colour to work with lots of different colour.

An alternative to a caramel  colour would be could be a pale grey. This is also a great neutral colour and one that lots of colours will work well with. I love a bright red with grey and if you are a cool skin toned lady be sure to pick a blue based red. Other colours for cool ladies could be pinks, purples, blues to name but a few.

If you really want to buy into the neutrals trend go for a trench coat. This double breasted one I found in Marks & Spencer  This retails at £49.50 and is available in this stone colour black & honey, This would be a great investment item that you will have in your wardrobe for many years to come. How would I wear this? I would wear something in a bright colour underneath, and perhaps a floral scarf. I would definitely put colour in my accessories in my shoes/boots and handbag. (They don’t have to match by the way)
