My wardrobe is full but I still have nothing to wear

I think we get in a rut and can’t see the wood from the trees. Our brains follow the same pattern of styling the same tops, with the same trousers or skirts. We do this automatically without realising we are doing it. If we are in a hurry to get to work we just throw on what we normally do without thinking. How about planning what you are going to wear the night before and give some thought when putting an outfit together.

Plan ahead

To save time in the morning, how nice would it be to have an outfit already to put on after your shower. For some of the ladies I style we prepare outfits in advance. We even leave the accessories for example scarves or necklaces on the hanger, so you don’t forget to add them after you have got dressed.

I have recently bought this lovely olive green jumper from Oasis in John Lewis (which also happened to have 20% off.)  It is not a colour I usually wear but I wanted a change from my usual red or orange. I had the perfect scarf to go with it. Also, I had a checked pair of checked trousers that it looks fab with and it will also look good with black trousers and jeans. Sometimes you only need to buy a few key items to give your wardrobe a refresh.

Get organised

I have come across this App called ‘STYLEBOOK‘. If you are unsure how to put outfits together this might be a good tool for you. It would be worth spending the time to upload all your garments.  Then the fun begins, putting the outfits together. If you are really organised, you can plan your wardrobe for a week or month ahead!! For me this is too much like hard work but then I love styling myself and making the same outfits look different.

Take some inspiration from the magazines, TV and the internet. Look around the shops and see how the retailers have put their outfits together. It might be sometimes that you don’t even need to buy much to bring an old outfit up to date. You could add a colourful scarf, a piece of jewellery or perhaps a new handbag. Look at the colours of the season and perhaps you can add one new jumper to make several new outfits with what you already have.

Try different colour combinations.

Be brave and try different colour combinations. Blue and Green should never be seen!!! Not the case at all. Who would have thought to put bright pink with orange but it works? Perhaps you don’t want to wear that level colour, find what works for you. If you need any help with colour and what suits you do get in touch as I can help you with that.

Re-Style what you have in your wardrobe

Take one of your favourite items in your wardrobe and style it a different way to what you normally do. It may be a favourite jacket. Try adding a camisole underneath in a different colour, a scarf in the neck or your favourite necklace. I think what I am trying to say is to take a fresh look at what you have and try to style in a different way.

Need any help?

If you have had your colours done in a colour analysis you will know which are your best colours and this makes styling your wardrobe so much easier. It also means you will need less clothes to make more outfits as they will all mix well together making lots of outfits. If you need any help with style or colours please do get in touch.
