What a lot of my clients tell me is yes, it’s fine to know which colours that suit them but they also need to no which colours to put together when they are putting their outfits together. This is why in my colour consultations I do give suggestions to which colours will pair well together. However, I get my inspiration for colour combinations from nature.
Green makes a great good base colour.
Do you have a base colour of green in your wardrobe? If you have a warm skin tone the green that works well for you would be a warm olive or khaki. If you have a cool skin tone I would go for an emerald green or bottle green. These greens are a great alternative to the trustee black.
Look that this floral arrangement and see how all these beautiful colours work well together. Here you have everything from red, yellow, white, pink and green.

When I went for my training to learn colour analysis, I had no idea how to put different colours together. If I had a navy skirt, I would put a cream blouse why would you not? BUT that is just boring unless it is a uniform that you must wear. At the time I never wore pink because I had never found a warm pink. She suggested that I wore pink with green, a combination I had never worn before, but how great do they look together. Khaki green and a salmon pink work great together, if you have a cool summer a pastel pink and a forest green and a winter would turn up the volume of colour and go for a bright pink and emerald, green.
Blue and green should never be seen unless there is a colour in between?
How wrong is this? I love wearing denim jeans, skirts and dresses and I love to wear green with it. Choose your shade of green from your colour pallet to team with your denim. Items of course do not have to be block colours they can be in a pattern or design which breaks up the volume of colour.
Colour blocking.
This has been a fashion trend for some time now as an example where they put a bright orange with a bright pink that is great as long as the colour next to your face is the right tone for you. This is often also done with blue and green. Personally, I am not keen on clashing patterns but that is a personal thing. The important thing for me is to wear colour!!!!!
Colour can also make you feel good too.
Wearing colour can not only make you look good but feel good too. On a day when it is grey outside choose to wear some colour to lift your mood. This really works put on a a touch of colour and you will find that it will lift your mood. Give it a try and let you know how you get on.
Put your colour in your accessories.
You can also put your colour in your accessories, a coloured necklace, scarf, shoes and handbag.
I am passionate about colour.
Some colours you will have a love affair with, others will not light you up, and that is fine, but it is important to find the colours that work with your skin tone to bring out the best in you. Find the colours that make your lines fade, make your eyes sparkle, less need for makeup, and even out your complexion. You need to avoid the colours that wash you out by draining the colour from your face making you look tired and stressed and showing you imperfections.
