If you don’t have a slim waist? How do you fake it?
There are several ways you can do this especially if you have a boyish figure with no waist definition like me you have to give the illusion of curves even if they are not there and that means staying away from big baggy styles with no structure.
Flared Trousers
To get the effect of a slim waist try wearing boot cuts, flares and palazzos suit most shapes as they balance your legs and skim your hips making your waist look smaller. If you are looking to avoid or hide your muffin top try high-waisted as this will also make your legs look longer. If you are lucky enough to have a slim waist you can try hipsters.
A Line Skirts
A line skirts come in all styles, designs and lengths, and if you find a well fitting one it will accentuate your waist and slim your hips making your waist look smaller and slimmer. If you are looking to cover your tummy wear with a hip length top or if you are petite team it with a short jacket. This also goes for dresses that have an A line skirt to them as it will give the same effect
Wrap Tops
These are the perfect choice if you are bigger busted as this style will compliment your cleavage. If however you are smaller busted choose a printed fabric. If you are looking to disguise your tummy there are several styles around that have a draping effect or if you are slim choose one that has a tie waist.
Shirt Style Dresses with tie waists
Shirt style dresses work well as very often they are not waisted but have a tie belt that you can where in the correct place for your figure. I happen to be long-waisted and find it very difficult to find dresses with the waist in the right place so these are perfect. A tie waist will create curves, where stripes to streamline the look. If you prefer you can add a belt of your choice which ties in with your accessories.
I choose to wear my shirts tucked into my trousers or skirt with a belt or if I am having a fat day I wear the shirt outside and put a belt on top of my shirt to emphasise my waist. For most people the waist is the smallest part of the body so make use of it.
You can update your wardrobe with a few of this seasons key pieces for an instant update to your look and flatter your shape. I have looked on the High Street and all these key pieces are available in most shops it is just a question of personal choice.
We don’t all have a slim figure with a slim waist but we can make the most of what we have by playing up the good points and drawing the eyes away from the bits we are less happy with.
