So, the background is black, but…

Not only to how you look but how your clothes look too. I go to a regular yoga class and each week we work on a different part of the body. This week we were working on our shoulders and so many of us are round shouldered due to sitting at a desk on our computers or mobile phones. Does your posture alter the look of your outfit? Does your posture alter the look of your outfit? Standing up to your full height can make a huge difference. As I am tall, growing up I didn’t want to tower over my friends and so I was inclined to stoop to make myself not look so tall. I was bullied for being tall and thin so thought it was not good to be that way. I wanted to be small and petite but I think that was because I wanted to blend in and not stand out. Fast forward till now, I am proud of my height, I love my long legs even though it is a problem ordering trousers to ensure they are long enough. It is important to stand tall. I love giraffes as many of you know and look how graceful they are standing full height. This photograph was taken last November at my niece’s wedding…

Get your wardrobe sorted for the Spring and Summer

Get your wardrobe sorted for the Spring and Summer This is my favourite time of the year when the weather breaks and the sun shines. It’s time to get into the garden, cut back the shrubs and think about planting the bedding plants. It’s a time to look forward to the garden looking colourful, meals outside and enjoying the sunshine. Along with this it’s also time to sort out the wardrobe and put away all the winter clothes. Spring is here let’s bring out the spring and summer clothes. Get your wardrobe sorted for the Spring and Summer Look at your Winter wardrobe, are there things that you have not worn this season?  If you have not been wearing something for whatever reason, it might be a good idea to let them go. What are the chances of you wearing it next year? I use this as a time to de-clutter as I don’t want to store clothes that I am never going to wear again. Sometimes when you start to really look at what you do have in your wardrobe there will be duplicates. How many pairs of black trousers does a person need? Get my drift, sift through what you have and let go of what you no longer need. Ask yourself these questions. Do you love it? Does it fit me? Does it make me feel good? Is it in a colour and style to suit me? Sort into piles Rubbish – clothes that are worn out…

Spring clean your wardrobe with a declutter

Spring clean you wardrobe with a declutter Spring is the time of year to let go all of what you no longer need to hold onto.  Use this time to sort through what you have in your wardrobe and declutter and let go all those items you no longer wear. Some may just be past their life; others may not fit into your current style. If you have not worn it this season, are you likely to wear it next autumn? I put everything away clean for next year including my shoes and boots, so they are ready to wear when the weather turns cold. I even re heal shoes ready for next year. Spiritually this is a time to let go. Spiritually this is a time to let go of any negativity making way to bring in the new. New creative ideas and anything we want to bring into our life and with this in mind let go the clothes that no longer serve you. This allows us to add some new things, as your style is always evolving. I am sure the wardrobe you had in your 20’s is nothing like what you are wearing in your 50’s. Nature has the right idea. If you think of nature this time of year it sheds its leaves which turn into compost for the ground. We cut back all our plants ready for them to reshoot in the spring. The one thing I learnt in lock down was that I had…
