I have been away for the weekend and visited Chichester, and what a lovely City it was. Here were lots of independent shops and boutiques to browse around. This I saw in a shop window, and I was drawn in by the beautiful colours. The gentleman who owned the shop sourced all his own materials and made everything himself. Everything was beautifully made in all these striking colours. I was very tempted, but I do have a poncho, and these were an investment buy, but it got me thinking. I love colour for how it makes me look and feel, but these colours I found were a little too bright even for me. There were others in less striking colours, but I was drawn to this one. Although I did love the poncho I decided not to buy as I thought I would tire of it.
I love colour for how it makes me look and feel.
When choosing colour to work with your skin tone what we don’t want to do is wear too much colour. If we do this what happens is you see the clothes before we see the person. This poncho is full on colour and would only suit ladies who were a Bright Spring or Winter who can wear that level of colour. There were more muted shades on the rail which would suit ladies who are a summer or autumn.
Wearing the right level of colour is so important.
Not wearing enough colour can be draining on the face and too much is equally not ideal so It is knowing where to stop. That is where the seasons come in, Spring and Autumn are warm, and Winter and Summer are the cool. If you are a spring and want to tone down the level of colour you can pinch some autumn colours. The same goes for the cool colours if you are a summer and want to wear some brighter shades you can pinch some from winter pallet. What you never do is move from cool to warm or warm to cool.
